It’s been a mixed bag from the Swans so far this season winning one, losing one and drawing two, something they will have to address if they are to improve on last year’s lower half finish. They will be particularly disappointed with their midweek 2-2 draw at home to Millwall, where the South Wales club went 2-0 up inside 15 minutes but went on to draw the game thanks to two own goals after the 90-minute mark in a quite unbelievable end to the match.
Fans will be hoping Russell Martin dips into the transfer market for defensive players before the end of the month, given the fact they have conceded six goals in four games. But money appears to be tight with the Swans only spending around £2million so far on new players.
They face the Hatters who will be extremely disappointed about how their season has gone so far with just two points on the board. Quite the contrast to last season when they made the playoffs, although it’s still very early days. Nathan Jones will be annoyed after their midweek outing though, losing 2-0 to Bristol City (who were previously winless) even though they had to play 25 minutes or so with 10 men thanks to Mark Sykes being set off.
Despite that, Luton failed to score and the early Bristol goals proved too much for them to overcome. There has been a lot of players come through the door at the Bedfordshire-based club this summer with nine new faces arriving so far. Given their amazing success with recruitment over the last few years, perhaps it’s just a case of giving them time to settle before we see the Luton of last season again.
