The Swans are flying high after a tough start to the season with four wins from their last five games taking them up to 6th place. Last time out saw them record an impressive 2-1 win over Watford and that followed a 3-2 win over struggling West Brom. In fact, their only defeat in the last five outings has come at the hands of Sheffield United, courtesy of a last-minute winner in a game that could have gone either way.
That blistering form means they go into the weekend’s game at the Liberty Stadium as slight favourites in what should be a tight game against a resolute Sunderland side. Bookies are pricing the home win at 13/10.
The Black Cats have understandably struggled in front of goal without a recognised striker in their last two games, recording 0-0 draws against Preston and Blackpool respectively. They do however tend to perform better on the road, averaging 1.7 goals per game as opposed to 1 at the Stadium of Light, something which might go in their favour on Saturday.
But they will need to find a way of scoring without a striker again, with Ellis Simms deemed not fit enough to play this weekend. That is the main reason why they enter this clash as slight outsiders, with bookies pricing the away win at 2/1.
