Match preview
Two high-flying League One sides will meet in the FA Cup at Pride Park this weekend as Barnsley and Derby County park their excellent league form for a week with both sides eyeing up a spot in the playoffs and the fourth round of this competition.
Ahead of the game, both sides have actually swapped places in League One in the past week. This comes off the back of Bolton Wanderers hammering Barnsley 3-0 at Oakwell, as Mads Juel Andersen was sent off after 10 minutes – he now misses this game.
Derby, however, smashed Accrington Stanley 4-0, as Tom Barkhuizen scored twice, alongside goals from David McGoldrick and Conor Hourihane. William Osula was also sent off that day just 15 minutes after coming on, so he misses this game too.
In League One, just one point separates the two sides, but the Tykes do have a game in hand to play and already won one game extra too.
Barnsley have also scored three goals less, however, and let in four goals more with Derby boasting the best goals difference record outside of the top three.
