Match Preview for Dunkerque v Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain are heavy favourites to claim a record-extending 16th Coupe de France title this season, and it would take the biggest upset in the competition’s long history for fourth-tier Dunkerque to stop them in the last four.

Dunkerque have already enjoyed a campaign that will live long in the memory, knocking out Ligue 1 sides Auxerre, Lille and Brest en route to the semi-finals.

But a meeting with French football’s dominant force and one of the favourites to win the Champions League is likely to be a step too far for the minnows.

PSG have lost just once in their last 27 matches in all competitions. They haven’t suffered a domestic defeat all season and head into this game on the back of a 6-1 thrashing of Saint-Etienne.

And coach Luis Enrique warned Dunkerque they will not take their foot off the gas on Tuesday.

“I’m going to approach it as usual. Since last season, we’ve been thinking in general terms and not about a single match. We love being in a busy schedule because it means we’re involved in all the competitions,” Luis Enrique said.
“We’ve never changed our mindset, we play the same way, we try to improve our performance and the best way to do that is to respect our opponents.
“We want to make history in France and we have to take every match as a challenge. That’s our objective against Dunkerque.”

Prediction for Dunkerque v Paris Saint-Germain

Dunkerque’s run to this point of the competition deserves to be celebrated but, barring a miracle, it will end here.

PSG are simply too strong and their form is just too impressive to consider the hosts pulling off an upset. A goal for Dunkerque at any point in this one would be a huge achievement.

Prediction: Dunkerque 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain
