Match Preview

Manchester City host Watford tomorrow night in the EFL Cup, just over 48 hours on from their tempestuous draw at home to Arsenal.

John Stones’ last-gasp equaliser enabled City to escape with a 2-2 draw after it seemed they would succumb to the Gunners’ defensive wall and time-wasting antics at the Etihad.

Having another game so quickly would be a major concern were it not for the fact City’s strength in depth will likely mean an entirely different starting XI taking on the Hornets.

The likes of Stones, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish all came off the bench yesterday and could start, along with the likes of Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes.

Watford started the Championship season well but have stumbled in recent weeks and defeats to Sheffield United and Norwich, either side of a draw with Coventry, has seen them slip to eighth.
