Match preview

After sending out a real statement of intent in the first knockout round, will Fiorentina’s excellent Europa Conference League form continue?

Last month, I Viola demolished Braga 7-2 on aggregate, winning 4-0 in Northern Portugal and then 3-2 in Florence.

This made it six straight European victories for Vincenzo Italiano’s team, scoring 20 goals in these matches.

In their history, Fiorentina have featured in four major continental finals, their sole triumph coming against Rangers in the Cup Winners’ Cup 62 years ago.

Right now though, I Gigliati are down in 12th place in Serie A, despite a famous 2-1 victory over A.C. Milan on Saturday.

With little to play for domestically, Fiorentina could go all in for this trophy, making them one of the serious contenders.

Rıza Çalımbay’s team actually finished tenth in the Süper Lig last season, but got into Europe by winning the club’s maiden Türkiye Kupası title.

Domestically, Sivasspor are down in 13th again, beaten 4-3 by Fatih Karagümrük on Saturday.

So, most would expect a comfortable home win at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Fiorentina team news

Arthur Cabral scored three of the seven against Braga, taking his tally to ten of the campaign.

Antonín Barák could return to midfield for this one, alongside Moroccan World Cup star Sofyan Amrabat.

Serbian striker Luka Jović came off the bench to score against Milan at the weekend, but could be a substitute once again.

Sivasspor team news

Max-Alain Gradel, formally of Leeds and Bournemouth, will remain Sivasspor’s primary goal threat, after scoring three times in the group stage.

With Robin Yalçın out injured, Isaac Cofie could continue to anchor midfield.

Nigerian Ahmed Musa is still searching for his first goal for the club; he’s previously scored seven times in UEFA competition for CSKA Moscow.
