Match preview

Can Vaduz continue their fairytale European adventure, or will Rapid Wien prove too strong in the end?

Last Thursday, the Liechtenstein club took a surprise lead at Rheinpark Stadion, courtesy of Dario Ulrich.

However, Rapid Vienna did manage to leave on level peggings, with Ferdy Druijf equalising just after the interval.

So, it’s winner takes all at Allianz Stadion.

Vaduz currently play in Switzerland’s second-tier, but are in this competition as their country’s sole representatives, having lifted their 48th Liechtenstein Cup last season.

This has seen Vaduz reach the play-off round for the very first time, looking to continue this fruitful blueprint.

Having said all of that, Rapid Vienna are still favourites to be victorious.

Die Grün-Weißen have, to date, featured in ten UEFA group stages, including three in the last four seasons.

Having already ousted Lechia Gdańsk and Neftçi Bakı, Rapid were fully expecting to come through this tie, last exiting in qualifying in 2014.

Anything other than a home win would be a major shock.
