After a disastrous return to European competition at Fir Park last Thursday, Motherwell are very much up against it in this tie.
A week ago, the Well played a European match in front of fans for the first time since a draw with Starnan eight years ago.
With over 7,000 in attendance, there was a party atmosphere, although this was confined to the away contingent rather quickly.
So, a goal down, the Steelmen will have to show resilience, needing to win at The Showgrounds.
Motherwell came into this tie as favourites, but are currently winless in nine European away games.
This will have to change if Graham Alexander’s team are to avoid falling at the first hurdle.
Sligo Rovers meanwhile will be in buoyant mood having already beaten Bala Town on penalties in the first qualifying round.
The Irish side have only ever featured in the third round of qualification once before, beaten by Vorskla Poltava 11 years ago.
The reward for the winners is a Europa Conference League third qualifying round tie against Sparta Praha or Viking.
