Will the Europa Conference League winners begin their campaign in the second-tier competition with a victory on the road?

Back in May, Nicolò Zaniolo was the only scorer as Roma beat Feyenoord in Tirana to lift the inaugural Europa Conference League.

This was I Giallorossi’s first major silverware since 2008, and their first on the continent since 1961.

So now, José Mourinho’s team will believe they can go all the way in this competition too.

Although, Roma do come into this one following a catastrophic defeat at the weekend, hammered 4-0 by Udinese at Stadio Friuli.

This ended their unbeaten start to the Serie A season and is their biggest league defeat for almost two years.

The Eagles are 11-in-a-row champions of Bulgaria, so have now qualified for a UEFA group stage nine times in ten seasons.

In qualification, they overcame Sutjeska Nikšić and Shamrock Rovers, were then dumped out of the Champions League by GNK Dinamo, before bouncing back in the play-offs against Žalgiris Vilnius.

However, Ludogorets have finished bottom of their Europa League group in each of the last two campaigns, so will certainly be hoping for better this time round.

Also, they’ve lost their last two matches at home to Italian clubs, beaten 3-0 by A.C. Milan in 2018 and 2-0 by Inter two years and five days later.

All in all, Roma will fancy their chances of leaving Huvepharma Arena with all three points.
