Match preview

Will Fulham’s excellent season continue, as they chase a first FA Cup Final appearance for 48 years?

Right now, the Cottagers are sixth in the Premier League, on course for the club’s highest top division finish of all-time.

On Friday night, Manor Solomon’s stunning curler salvaged a draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This means Marco Silva’s men have lost just two of ten outings since the World Cup, accumulating 20 points in this period.

Meanwhile, in the FA Cup, Fulham have seen off Hull City and then Sunderland to get this far.

The latter did require a replay, with Harry Wilson, Andreas Pereira and Layvin Kurzawa on target at the Stadium of Light earlier this month.

Leeds United meantime are just simply seeking to stay in the Premier League, but took a giant step towards that on Saturday.

Junior Firpo was the only scorer in a victory over Southampton at Elland Road, with this Leeds’ first league win since 5 November.

The perfect start for Javi Gracia, the man who led Watford to the FA Cup Final just four seasons ago.

Before the Spaniard’s arrival, Leeds overcame Cardiff 5-2 in a replay and then eliminated Accrington Stanley in round four.

Before this season, they’d lost six successive FA Cup ties, with this their first appearance in the fifth round since 2016.

Leeds have won their last two visits to Craven Cottage, one of which came via a penalty shootout, and haven’t won three successive fixtures there since 1956.

This time, will Fulham make home advantage count?

Fulham team news

Marco Silva has rotated his XI in previous rounds but, with their next fixture not until Monday night, he can surely go strong this time.

Manor Solomon has scored off the bench in each of Fulham’s last three matches, so surely warrants a start here.

João Palhinha picked up his tenth booking of the season on Friday, meaning he can’t play again in the league until 18 March.

Given that, he’ll surely keep his place, with Saša Lukić coming in for Harrison Reed who hobbled off against Wolves.

With Aleksandar Mitrović still out injured, Carlos Vinícius will continue to lead the line.

Dan James is eligible to play against his parent club but Layvin Kurzawa, who scored in round three and four, has suffered a knee injury.

Predicted XI: (4-2-3-1): Rodák; Cédric, Duffy, Adarabioyo, Robinson; Lukić, Palhinha, James, Wilson, Solomon; Vinícius.

Leeds United team news

Javi Gracia didn’t change too much for his first game in charge on Saturday, but will get the opportunity to test out a few players here.

Marc Roca is fit again, but now has to break up the USA midfield axis of Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie.

Club-record signing Georginio Rutter’s only start since arriving from Hoffenheim came against Accrington in round four, although that could change here.

The goals have rather dried up for both Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto in recent weeks, so will either spark back into life here?

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Meslier; Kristensen, Koch, Wöber, Firpo; Adams, McKennie, Summerville, Aaronson, Gnonto; Rutter.
