League One and League Two will meet one another this weekend in the FA Cup as two strugglers from their respective divisions meet at Blundell Park off the back of two very contrasting results for them both.
It’s been a very topsy-turvy season for Grimsby in League Two, but they are now coming into this one off the back one of their best results of the season. The club beat the high-flying Stockport County 1-0 thanks to a goal from Otis Kahn in the second half.
Paul Hurst’s men did lose 4-1 to Salford City just before this after also losing to strugglers, Harrogate Town. It leaves Grimsby in 16th for the fourth week in a row in League Two.
As for Burton, their excellent run of form throughout December that saw them leap out of the bottom three has now been turned right back around after an incredible 5-0 loss to last-placed Morecambe.
It marks the worst result of the season for Burton, but they are still in 21st and outside of the bottom three by just one point. On the other hand, they have now conceded a stunning 50 goals – this is the worst defensive record across the Football League.
