Will Barcelona’s fine form continue?

On Wednesday night, in their Champions League opener, Barça swatted aside Viktoria Plzeň 5-1 at Camp Nou.

Robert Lewandowski bagging a trademark hat-trick, while Franck Kessié and Ferran Torres were also on target.

Given that their next four games in that competition are against either Bayern Munich or Inter, it was vitally important Xavi’s team didn’t slip up.

Back in La Liga, since being held to a goalless draw by Rayo Vallecano on opening night, it’s been plain sailing for Barça.

The Blaugrana put four past both Real Sociedad and Real Valladolid, before last weekend’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Sevilla.

So, will Barcelona move top of the table before Real Madrid are in action on Sunday lunchtime?

Well, this seems likely given how shambolic Cádiz have been so far.

El Submarino Amarillo are the only team in La Liga yet to get off the mark, shipping ten goals without reply so far.

Sergio’s side were easily beaten 3-0 by Celta de Vigo in their last outing, conceding three goals in a 19 minute spree at Balaídos.

Barcelona did lose at Estadio Ramón de Carranza two seasons ago but, this time, there will surely be only one outcome.
