Celta de Vigo have won each of their last four meetings with Alavés, scoring 13 and conceding just two. Before this, el Glorioso had won five of their last seven against O Celtiña, losing only once.

Under 2.5 goals is 4/6.

Iago Aspas has scored seven goals in 11 league appearances against Alavés. He is 4/1 to break the deadlock and 11/8 to score anytime.

Match preview

Can Deportivo Alavés pull off a great escape?

Last weekend, Julio Velázquez’s side reignited their survival hopes by beating Villarreal 2-1 at Mendizorrotza; Víctor Laguardia and Gonzalo Escalante on target.

That’s now back-to-back home wins for Alavés, also beating Rayo Vallecano, whilst suffering a costly 2-1 defeat at Mallorca in-between.

But, with their remaining games being this one, Espanyol (H), Levante (A) and Cádiz (H), their destiny is firmly in their own hands.

Will Alavés win away from home for the first time since 23 October?

Celta de Vigo, in stark contrast, essentially have nothing to play for.

Eduardo Coudet’s side looked set to beat Granada last weekend when Iago Aspas opened the scoring at Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes.

However, el Graná pushed hard towards the end and got a deserved equaliser in stoppage time.

So, O Celtiña have slipped down to 12th, having only won one of their last seven fixtures.

Will Alavés leave Balaídos with a massive victory?

Celta Vigo team news

Santi Mina started up front last weekend, but won’t be doing the same here after being sentenced to four years in prison subsequently.

He and UD Ibiza player David Goldar were found guilty of sexual abuse on Wednesday

As ever, Iago Aspas will be Celta Vigo’s main goal threat, having scored seven times against Alavés in the past.

Nolito and Denis Suárez, who were left out last week, could be back in the XI here.

Deportivo Alavés team news

Joselu, as ever, is Alavés’ main man having scored 13 of their 28 league goals this season.

Luis Rioja and Édgar Méndez will look to support the centre-forward from wider positions.

Solid centre-back duo Víctor Laguardia, who scored last weekend, and Florian Lejeune will be key if Alavés do manage to stay up.
