Celta Vigo won the reverse fixture 3-1 in December but, before that, their previous five encounters had all ended in draws. Celta have only won one of their last 12 visits to Cornellà de Llobregat.

Under 2.5 goals is 4/6.

Draw and under 2.5 goals is 11/4.

Iago Aspas is 11/2 to break the deadlock and 2/1 to score anytime.

Match preview

Iago Aspas

These two both have 36 points after 30 matches, meaning it’s 11th vs 12th in a mid-table clash, with Celta de Vigo currently higher by virtue of goal difference.

Espanyol will certainly take this position, given that they were in the Segunda División last season following a catastrophic relegation in 2020.

Before this, Blanquiazules were unbeaten in three matches, winning two of those, their longest unbeaten streak since late-October.

Celta de Vigo meanwhile came into the season with slightly loftier ambitions having finished eighth last time round.

O Celtiña were beaten 2-1 by league-leaders Real Madrid last weekend with the visitors awarded no less than three penalties at Balaídos.

This is the first time in Primera División history that an away side has been given three spot-kicks.

But, having lost that one, Eduardo Coudet’s side have only won one of their last seven with their European aspirations ending in this period.

This one is tough to call at RCDE Stadium.

Espanyol team news

Veteran goalkeeper Diego López remains injured so Oier Olazábal will continue to deputise.

At the other end, top-scorer Raúl de Tomás is out due to a shoulder injury, meaning Loren Morón could continue to deputise up front.

Celta Vigo team news

Celta meanwhile could continue with their front four of Nolito, Iago Aspas, Santi Mina and Brais Méndez.

At right-back, Hugo Mallo is out, so Kevin Vázquez will continue there.
