Match preview for Atletico Madrid v Barcelona
A massive game is on the cards in LaLiga on Sunday as Atletico Madrid welcome Barcelona to the Spanish capital.
Hansi Flick’s side sit top of the division, one point ahead of third-placed Atletico, who have a been in their bonnet after the midweek Champions League action.
Diego Simeone and Co suffered heartbreak against rivals Real Madrid, losing on penalties and being dumped out once again by Los Blancos.
And after Simeone’s explosive post-match press conference, there is no doubt the Argentine manager will have his players fired up for this huge match.
Barcelona have a game in hand on Atletico and a win at the Wanda Metropolitano would put them in a strong position to move away from the Red and Whites in the standings.
And Atletico actually lost last time out, falling to a 2-1 defeat to Getafe. It was setback in their title chase but they can renew their ambitions with a win on Sunday.
But, Barcelona have the best away record in LaLiga this season, picking up 30 points from 14 games on the road.
Flick’s men can still secure a Treble after they qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
On top of that, the visitors won 3-0 on their last trip to Atletico.
