After an excellent summer for the Spanish national team, fans will be jubilant mood as LaLiga returns action.

Real Madrid wrestled the title back off fierce rivals Barcelona during a season in which they also won the Champions League and are the favourites to top the table again in 2024-25.

As usual, Barca and Atletico will be Real’s biggest challengers as Athletic Bilbao, Real Sociedad, Girona and Real Betis prepare to battle it out for the top four.

Newly-promoted Leganes and Real Valladolid and will be hoping to avoid an immediate drop back down to the second division, with Leganes, Las Palmas and Getafe also in danger of the drop.

All odds are from Bet365 and are correct at the time of writing on Tuesday, August 13.

LaLiga winner

Real Madrid (2/5)

After a superb season under Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid look to have made themselves even more formidable this summer with the signing of superstar Kylian Mbappe.

As a result, the bookies have made Los Blancos favourites to land their 35th LaLiga title over Barca.

Barcelona (7/2)

As the other dominant side in Spain, Barca also have a short price at just 7/2 as they begin life under new manager Hansi Flick.

The German won the Treble during his first season in charge during his last club role at Bayern Munich and is now tasked with taking the Catalan giants back to being the top club in Spain.

Atletico Madrid (10/1)

Atletico Madrid are the team with the best chance of upsetting LaLiga’s elite duo and come in at 10/1 to do so.

Diego Simeone’s men last won the league in the 2020-21 season and finished in fourth below Girona last term but have added some dangerous firepower to their attack this summer in the form of Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth.

Race for the Champions League

Real (1/33), Barca (1/5) and Atletico (1/3) will all expect Champions League qualification in 2024-25 but a host of other clubs will be vying for the final top-four spot.

Athletic Bilbao (15/8)

Athletic Bilbao narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot last season after finishing fifth in LaLiga.

But following a raft of exits from last season’s third-placed finishers Girona, they may be the best bet to break in this time around.

Real Sociedad (15/8)

Real Sociedad are another strong side battling for Europe’s top table but are another who could be hampered by outgoings.

The news that Martin Zubimedi is set to reject Liverpool to remain in the Basque country is a boost but fellow midfielder Mikel Merino is also being chased by a number of clubs.

Girona (15/8)

Girona enjoyed a stunning campaign to finish third last season and are certainly in the race for the Champions League again.

But it remains to be seen how they will perform after the huge losses they have suffered this summer, with star creator Aleix Garcia, striker Dovbyk, talented winger Savinho, defensive mainstay Eric Garcia and Manchester City loanee Couto all leaving.

Real Betis (4/1)

A late slip meant Real Betis had to settle for a Conference League place last season and as a result are the outsiders for the top four.

Manuel Pellegrini remains in charge for 2024-25 but failure to remain in Europe this season could put his future in doubt.

Relegation battle

Leganes (11/8)

Laganes are back in LaLiga for the first time in four years and for only the second time in their history after sealing promotion from LaLiga 2 as champions.

They have secured the talents of loanees Miguel de la Fuente, Juan Cruz and Enric Franquesa but have been named as favourites to drop back down.

Las Palmas (6/5)

After surviving relegation by the skin of their teeth, Las Palmas look in real danger of the drop this time around.

Goals were a major issue last season and do not look to have addressed that issue over the summer, with a a reliance on Adnan Januzaj a concern.

Getafe (13/8)

Getafe finished fairly comfortably in mid-table in 2023-24 but a lack of transfer activity sees them listed as a club in danger of the drop.

Joe Bordelas has not hidden his frustration at their poor window and the potential departure of striker Borja Mayoral could spell further trouble.

Real Valladolid (13/8)

Real Valladolid are hoping to end their yo-yo years after bouncing between the top and second divisions in each of the last four seasons.

Jordi Masip, defender Sergio Escudero and midfielder Monchu are all high-profile departures which could leave them looking over their shoulders this season.
