La Liga’s biggest derby, el Gran Derbi, is back for its 138th instalment.
Across the last decade or so, Sevilla have dominated this rivalry, winning 15 of their last 24 meetings with Betis.
However, this time, Real Betis kick off in the Champions League places, while Sevilla are in the relegation zone.
Last Sunday night, late goals from Juan Cruz and Borja Iglesias saw Béticos beat Real Sociedad 2-0 at Anoeta.
This saw Manuel Pellegrini’s leapfrog La Real up into fourth place.
Then, on Thursday night, despite having already won the group, los Verdiblancos hammered HJK in the Europa League.
While the Betis supporters are on cloud nine, the same cannot be said of their Sevilla counterparts.
Los Nervionenses come into this one having lost back-to-back league games, 3-1 against Real Madrid and then 1-0 at home to Ray Vallecano.
Having won just twice all season, Sevilla are 18th in the table, the same position as when Jorge Sampaoli returned five weeks ago.
Then, on Wednesday, despite taking the lead through Rafa Mir’s header, they were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City in a Champions League dead-rubber.
Los Hispalenses will drop into the Europa League first knockout round, so could meet Betis further down the line.
Before then, Sevilla’s priority has to be getting out of the relegation zone but, here, everything points towards a home win at Estadio Benito VillamarÃn.
