Safe to say it’s not been a brilliant week for Barcelona.
The Bundesliga club raced into a 3-0 lead at Catalonia with Barça getting it back to 3-2, but leaving it to late.
So, for the second time in three seasons, Barcelona will end a season without silverware, last doing so before this in 2007/08.
Then, on Monday night, Xavi’s side were beaten in La Liga for the first time since 4 December, a run that stretched across 15 matches.
The Blaugrana were firm favourites going into their clash with Cádiz, but were beaten 1-0, the only goal coming just after half time.
This is the first time since April 2003 that Barça have lost back-to-back home games, suffering defeats to Deportivo La Coruña and Juventus back then.
This means Barcelona are now 15 points behind Real Madrid and, even with a game in hand, their slim title aspirations are surely all over now.
Real Sociedad meanwhile will be hoping this is the perfect time to face Barça, as they need points to bolster their European chances.
La Real were last in action on Friday night, holding Real Betis to a stalemate goalless draw at Anoeta.
Imanol Alguacil’s side are now unbeaten in five league games but remain sixth, two points below Betis, but six clear of Villarreal in seventh.
Los Txuri-Urdin haven’t qualified for Europe in three successive seasons since the early 1980s, but are on course to achieve that.
Will La Real fans be celebrating a memorable victory in San Sebastián?
Real Sociedad team news

Real Sociedad are the lowest-scorers of all sides 13th or higher, a cause that hasn’t been helped by injuries to Mikel Oyarzabal and Carlos Fernández.
Also, David Silva’s red card against Real Betis means he is suspended for this fixture.
So, Adnan Januzaj or Portu will come in, supporting the striker partnership of Alexander Isak and Alexander Sørloth.

Xavi meanwhile might be tempted to shuffle his pack following back-to-back home defeats.
At centre-back, with Gerard Piqué injured, Eric García, Clément Lenglet and Óscar Mingueza are vying for two places.
It is no coincidence that Barça’s back-to-back defeats have come with Pedri out injured; the teenager is, already, their most important player.
In his absence, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi are the first-choice midfield tiro.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could return up front, alongside Ousmane Dembélé and Ferran Torres, at Memphis’ expense.
