Fourth-placed Barnsley are set to meet with Fleetwood Town at Oakwell this Thursday evening as Michael Duff’s men look to keep a tight grip on a spot in the playoffs before the start of 2023 as Fleetwood merely look to move closer to the top half.
Scott Brown’s men lost again last time out, as Sheffield Wednesday beat them at Highbury. Brown’s side saw a goal from Shaun Rooney to give them the lead after 10 minutes, before he was later sent off towards the end of the game in a 2-1 loss.
Barnsley drew 1-1 with Accrington Stanley away from home last time out, as James Norwood netted another goal in a fantastic season for him in League One. The club remain in fourth, however, and ahead of fifth-placed Bolton Wanderers by two points.
Better yet for Barnsley, they have two games in hand over the top three, although there is a bit of a gap to be made up in terms of points.
The Tykes are currently nine points behind third-placed Sheffield Wednesday and 13 points behind the league leaders, Plymouth Argyle.
