Charlton will be hoping of rocketing themselves closer to the top half of the table before 2023 when they play hosts to eight-placed Peterborough United this Boxing Day with the Posh winless in December.
Peterborough haven’t actually played since December 10th when they managed to lose to Ipswich Town 2-1. The postponed game does mean the club have no fresh injuries to worry about, but at the same time, they are still on a five-game losing run that stretches over three competitions.
The Posh are out of the Football League Trophy after a 4-2 loss to Chelsea U21s in mid-November, while they also managed to lose to Shrewsbury Town 3-1 in the FA Cup second round just four days later. A loss to Bristol Rovers just prior to this and feats to Barnsley and Ipswich in recent weeks mean this is the worst run of form for Peterborough this season.
As for Charlton, they too are out of the FA Cup after a 3-1 loss to Stockport County. The club also felt defeat at the hands of Plymouth Argyle in the Football League Trophy, losing by a narrow 3-2 scoreline.
Further defeats in the past month have seen them lose to Port Vale, Cheltenham Town and Bristol Rovers, meaning the club have not won since beating Stevenage on penalties in the EFL Cup.
