Match preview

Oxford United will welcome Exeter City to the Kassam Stadium on New Year’s Day with the club coming into this game after a topsy-turvy run of form in December while Exeter recently thrashed Bristol Rovers.

Matt Taylor’s men played out a thriller against Bristol, as they fought back from behind on two occasions. Sam Nombe netted twice for Exeter that day, including a winner in the 92nd minute, as Archie Finn Collins scored alongside a goal from Timothee Dieng.

It does now put Taylor’s men into the top half of the table, as they sit in 11th. Exeter’s also drew 0-0 with Portsmouth and 1-1 with Sheffield Wednesday in December, while also losing to Bolton Wanderers.

As for Oxford, they got back in the win column last time out by beating Charlton Athletic, after previously failing to win their past four.

Karl Robinson’s men also have a game against Arsenal in the FA Cup to look forward to next Monday in what will be the club’s biggest game in a number of years.
