Match preview

Eighth and seventh will meet in League One on New Year’s Day with Peterborough United and Wycombe Wanderers set to meet at the Weston Homes Stadium with the playoff spots in touching distance for either side.

It was a topsy-turvy run of form for the Posh in December. The club lost to Barnsley and Ipswich Town 2-1 at the start of December, but they managed to get a point against Charlton Athletic before a 2-0 win over MK Dons pushed them into seventh.

Wycombe, however, come into this game after just one loss in December. Gareth Ainsworth carried his men to a 2-0 win over Portsmouth, before a 0-0 draw against Lincoln in their only dropped points of the past four games.

Wycombe then got their best win of the season by beating Ipswich Town 1-0, before then beating Bristol Rovers 2-1. Their sole loss in December came from a 1-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle last time out.
