Match preview

Two sides looking to get back in the win column will meet at Montgomery Waters Meadow this Thursday evening as Shrewsbury Town and Cheltenham Town battle it out with aims of getting into the top half of the table in 2023.

Shrewsbury lost to Cambridge United away from home last time out, as Chrisian Saydee scored his team’s goal. Ryan Bowman was also sent off for the club towards the end of the game, and he now misses this match in what was an overall bad day for Shrewsbury.

Cheltenham played hosts to Plymouth Argyle on Boxing Day and lost to the club 1-0. It’s not the worst result in the world, given how Argyle sit top of the table, but in losing to Forest Green Rovers just two weeks back as well, they are now down in 18th.

Cheltenham do still have that excellent 4-0 win over Chelsea U21s to boast of in December, which has now set up a quarter-final battle with Salford City in January.
