Match preview
Two sides who have had entirely contrasting seasons so far will meet in League Two as Bradford City welcome the strugglers Rochdale to Yorkshire as Mark Hughes’ men look to further establish themselves as contenders in the playoff spots.
On paper, it should be a routine victory for Hughes and his side. Rochdale are sitting down in 21st and they have been fighting relegation for the past two seasons. On the other hand, the Dale have one of the best away records for those sitting down in the bottom eight of League Two, beating Colchester United and Newport County in recent weeks away from home.
On the other hand, Rochdale were hammered at home last time out to Harrogate Town, who sit just one place above them in the table. Worse yet, it now means there is a gap of four points to deal with on the 20th-placed side, while they only sit above Hartlepool United in 22nd by goals difference and Colchester in 23rd by a mere point.
Bradford, however, are enjoying life under Hughes in seventh. They even have game in hand over Swindon Town just below them and sit behind Mansfield in fifth by just one point but with that extra game to play over them too.
The Bantams are sitting 11 points behind Stevenage in second, however, despite being just five places below them in the table. At the same time, they have the best defensive record in the playoff spots.
