Salford are eyeing up a spot in the playoffs this weekend with the club coming off the back of a solid run of form in the past few weeks ahead of a trip to the JobServe Community Stadium against 23rd-placed Colchester United.
Salford are currently sitting ninth in the table after defeating Gillingham 3-0 and heaping more misery on the side in last place. Theo Vassell, Ryan Watson and Callum Hendry all got goals that day for the Ammies. It does now mean they are still just two points off the playoff spots and they can jump right into these positions with a win and over favourable results.
The main concern for Salford, however, is how they have lost seven games so far and won only nine of the 20 outings. On the other hand, they have managed to score 23 goals and let in just 18 too and have a game in hand to play over Swindon Town and Mansfield Town just above them.
As for Colchester, it’s been a terrible campaign for them. They did manage to register one of their best results of the season this time last month by beating Doncaster Rovers 3-0. However, in losing to Sutton United and Mansfield over the past two weeks, they remain 23rd and in deep trouble.
Ossama Ashley was also sent off that day against Sutton last weekend for Colchester and he is now set to miss this game.
