Match preview

10th and 16th will meet in League Two this weekend with Salford City set to travel up to Grimsby Town at Blundell Park with both clubs failing to win their Boxing Day games on Monday.

Despite the negative result for Salford, they still sit ahead of rivals Stockport County and in 10th and only three points behind sixth-placed Mansfield Town.

The club drew 1-1 with Barrow in the last outing to reignite their playoff hopes slightly, although Callum Hendry was sent off that day after a Matt Smith goal.

Grimsby lost to relegation fighters Harrogate Town on Boxing Day, despite taking a 2-1 lead in the second half. Unfortunately, Max Crocombe scored an own goal in the 91st minute to hand all three points to Harrogate.

The result keeps Grimsby in 16th ahead of the game with them having now lost eight games. On the other hand, Paul Hurst’s men have two games in hand on Sutton United just above them and just one game in hand on others around them.
