Match preview

The worst side in the Football League this season is back in action on home soil this weekend with the visit of Stockport County who are themselves looking to improve on their own form to push further towards the top half of the table.

County have far from lived up to expectation so far in this league season, in what is also their first campaign in the Football League in a decade. The club were the pre-season favourites to win the title and are now seeing themselves struggle just to get inside the top half.

County are currently 14th in the league and with just 24 goals scored from 19 games and seven wins, they remain a point off 12th and seven points behind the top six. They have also managed to lose eight games so far, let in 24 goals and concede 22.

County’s form has improved since their shocking start to the season, however, losing only one of their past six games in League Two, which came against the league leaders, Leyton Orient. The Greater Manchester outfit have also managed to beat Swindon Town 4-0 in the FA Cup and draw 2-2 with Charlton Athletic to set up a replay.

As for Hartlepool, they are rock bottom of the Football League with just 12 points and two wins and have 11 losses on the board already. The club have also let in an alarming 34 goals.
