Newport County meanwhile needed an 89th minute equaliser from Mickey Demetriou to draw 3-3 with bottom of the table Oldham last weekend.

The Exiles are now winless in three, despite winning four on the bounce before this barren spell.

James Rowberry’s side, as a result, are clinging onto that vital seven position.

Newport currently have Courtney Senior and 42 year old Kevin Ellison out injured.

Striker Timmy Abraham, not to be confused with his brother at Roma, hasn’t played since 18 December but could return soon.

James Perch is out for the visitors having suffered a skull fracture in August.

Jamie Murphy and Matty Longstaff joined on loan from Hibs and Newcastle respectively in January and both will improve this team.
