Match preview

It’s the biggest game in League Two this season as Salford City return to the Penisula Stadium with them welcoming Northampton Town off the back of their best win of the season in the fourth tier.

While hopes of promotion for Salford have diminished slightly over recent weeks, Northampton have now put themselves in their best position of the season after beating the league leaders, Leyton Orient.

The club beat Leyton Orient 1-0 after a winner from Ben Fox. They are still in third after the win, but Jon Brady’s men have cut the gap on the first-placed side to seven points.

Brady’s side are also behind Stevenage by just five points after 24 games, having scored the most in League Two with 39 goals.

Salford come into this one with three contrasting results since Christmas. The Ammies managed to draw with Barrow 1-1, before hammering Grimsby Town 4-1. They then lost to Bradford City on New Year’s Day and sit down in 11th ahead of this game.
