Two sides right by one another in the League Two table will meet this weekend as Rochdale and Sutton United battle at Gander Green Lane with only three places in the table and four points separate them.
The inferior points tally for Rochdale does mean they are heading into this one without the chance to move above Sutton in the table. At the same time, however, they are out of the bottom four and as long as they can match or better the results of Gillingham and Harrogate Town, they remain outside the relegation spots.
Rochdale did also manage to beat Salford City two weeks ago in what was arguably their best result of the season, but in losing to Walsall, Mansfield Town, Wimbledon and drawing with Tranmere Rovers, that win remains their only one in a month of League Two action. The Greater Manchester side were also beaten by Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup.
As for Sutton, it’s been a struggle in what is their second season in League Two. 16 goals scored and 25 conceded mean the club have one of the worst records in the division, and they haven’t tasted a victory since beating Oxford United in the EFL Trophy.
They are currently five above the bottom four and have plenty of breathing space on those below them.
