Match preview
League Two action continues this weekend with Tranmere Rovers and Wimbledon set to meet at Prenton Park with just four positions in the table separating the two as the Merseyside outfit are now into the top half of the table.
After showing great promise towards the end of last season, Tranmere are coming into this game 11th and with a bit of a point to prove to the rest of the league if they are to rocket themselves nearer the playoff positions.
As of now, Micky Mellon’s men have a gap of only five points to make up on Swindon Town in the playoff spots with his side now drawing five times after a 1-1 draw with Swindon in the last game. On the other hand, with just 14 goals conceded for Tranmere so far this season, only the league leaders, Leyton Orient, have let in fewer.
Tranmere were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Carlisle United two weeks back and lost to them just prior to this in the league too. Worse yet, with draws against Harrogate Town, Stockport County and Rochdale, they head into this game without a win since beating Crewe Alexandra twice in a row back in mid-October.
As for Wimbledon, they are coming into this one with a fantastic run that has seen them defeat the league leaders Leyton Orient, being just one of two teams to beat them in League Two so far.
