Match preview
12th will head to 15th in League Two this FA Cup weekend with Tranmere Rovers set to host Sutton United at Prenton Park with the Merseyside outfit losing once more over the weekend after winning a game.
With nine wins from 24 games, Tranmere have failed to win more than two games on the bounce all season long. They managed to beat the high-flying Barrow at the end of December, but in losing to Crewe Alexandra away from home, they remain in the bottom half.
Micky Mellon’s side do still sit a comfortable 17 points above the bottom two in the league and are only behind Sutton by two points in the table. Better yet, the 15th-placed side have a game in hand over the 12th-placed outfit.
As for Sutton, they have won three in a row now after beating Wimbledon on New Year’s Day. The club also defeated Gillingham and Crawley Town towards the end of December, although they did lose to Leyton Orient before this run.
Matt Grey’s side now sit behind 10th by one point but they are still in the top half of the table.
