Walsall and Crewe Alexandra will meet in League Two this weekend for a battle to get into the top half of the table with the home side sitting 11th and ahead of Crewe by three places in the division before the clash at the Banks’s Stadium.
Walsall are heading into this one off the back of a fantastic run if form which has seen them avoid defeat since a loss to MK Dons in the Football League Trophy in mid-October. Soon after, the club would draw with Sutton United and Carlisle United, but in beating Harrogate Town, Doncaster Rovers and Crawley Town, they are now in the top 12.
Walsall also managed to beat Carlisle in the FA Cup second round after defeating Wycombe Wanderers of League One in the first round. It now means Walsall have let in only 21 goals in all competitions (17 in League Two) and scored 25 times in the league as well.
Crewe are looking a lot better these days, although they have still lost the past two games and let in five goals in the process. Newport County beat them in League Two last time out, not long after Barnsley eased past them by a 3-0 scoreline in the FA Cup second round. Crewe’s last win saw them beat Swindon Town in League Two.
