Match preview

After a bumpy road in the last few weeks of domestic action, Wimbledon will meet with Grimsby Town in League Two with just three places in the division separating the two sides Johnnie Jackson’s men look to get back in the win column following an FA Cup loss to Chesterfield.

Wimbledon managed to put together a solid run of form in last few weeks by defeating Weymouth in an FA Cup replay, while also beating Sutton United in the EFL Trophy 1-0. More wins in the past month have seen them defeat the league leaders, Leyton Orient, and also the playoff hopefuls, Tranmere Rovers. It has rocketed the London club further away from the drop zone than ever before this season.

Grimsby have been struggling as of late in League Two, and they have to go back to mid-October to see their last win over Stockport County. Draws with Stevenage and Bradford City have since come in, while also losing to Hartlepool United, Doncaster Rovers and Barrow. They are still somewhat living off the high of beating League One high flyers 5-1, Plymouth Argyle.

Grimsby are now in 16th ahead of this one, although they can move ahead of Wimbledon with a win and potentially into as high as 11th if results can go their way.
