The poor form of both Reims and Angers continued on Sunday with both sides failing to win yet again as they find themselves in an early scrap down at the bottom ahead of the meeting at the Raymond Kopa Stadium.
Angers lost to Troyes on Sunday in what was a terrible result for the club. It now means Troyes have jumped right above them in the league, as Angers sit without a win in the league with two draws and two defeats. Worse yet, with eight goals conceded, only three other Ligue 1 sides have conceded more goals after four games.
Manager, Gérald Baticle, has seen his side also draw against Brest in the league, but with a red card in both of the club’s defeats, they have looked very ill-disciplined so far this season too. Halid Sabanovic was sent off in the loss to Brest, while Batista Mendy also received his marching orders against Troyes – the two are now suspended for this match.
The draws for Angers came against Nantes and Auxerre, as Lois Diony and Amine Salama scored a goal each in the 2-1 draw with the newly-promoted side, while the clash with Nantes ended goalless.
As for Reims, they remain without a win after a late goal from Lyon forced another draw. A draw with Strasbourg just before this and defeats to both Marseille and Clermont Foot keep them winless, but with 10 goals now conceded, alarm bells are now ringing amongst the defence of Reims.
Form so far points towards a close game here, but at the very least, both sides have scored a goal in every game so far, besides Angers’ 0-0 draw with Nantes.
