Brest are in terrible form ahead of their trip to Auxerre where they sit inside the relegation zone and two points behind their opposition this weekend as the home side have now lost five time already in Ligue 1 after game games.
It has been a terrible run of form since their 3-1 victory over Angers on matchday three that looked like being the catalyst for better things for Brest. They did, however, go on to lose 7-0 to Montpellier in what was their worst-ever home result in Ligue 1, and this was the met with a 3-1 loss to Rennes, a 1-1 draw with Strasbourg and a 1-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain. Brest then lost to Ajaccio last time out in what was their first win of the season.
Auxerre are in worse form since their win over Strasbourg back on matchday three, however, as they are coming into this one with 12 goals let in and only two scored of their own during a five-game losing run. Lyon beat them 2-1 first up, before Marseille beat them 2-0 and Rennes smashed them 5-0. Lorient then beat them 3-1 on home soil, which now means the club have lost their past two games at home.
There’s been a stunning 37 goals conceded from the combined 16 games so far between these two, and with there a lot on the line early on in Ligue 1 with so many teams struggling for form, this is set to be arguably the biggest game of the season to date for Brest and Auxerre.
