Brest and Lens head into this weekend’s clash against one another off the back of contrasting runs of form and just three weeks on from a meeting between the two in the French Cup round of 32 that saw Lens ease to a win.
Lens lost for just the second time on Wednesday in Ligue 1, as Nice edged past them in a 1-0 victory. The club also drew 1-1 with Troyes just prior to that to push them now six points behind Paris Saint-Germain at the top.
They are also in third but they do have a win already over Brest in 2023. Wesley Said scored after only five minutes that day before an equaliser from Islam Slimani. Facunda Medina and Adrien Thomasson scored in the first half as well to seal a 3-1 win away from home for Lens.
In the league, Brest sit 15th. Eric Roy’s men got a commendable draw away to Lyon in midweek, but they did smash Angers 4-0 last weekend in what currently goes down as their best win of the season.
It keeps Roy’s side in 15th and now just one point above Ajaccio in 17th.
