Lyon will be aiming to reignite their Ligue 1 campaign with a spark this Wednesday when they meet with Brest at the Stade Francis Le Blé as the home side sits down in 16th with Laurent Blanc set to play out his first chunk of Ligue 1 games with Lyon.
Just like last campaign, it’s been a struggle for Lyon so far in Ligue 1. They currently sit down in eight with only six wins on the board from 15 games. The club have a solid defensive record, however, and they have let in 18 goals from these games so far which does mean only the top four have let in fewer.
Blanc’s men were also quite active during the World Cup break and they played out five games in that time, all of them coming in December.
They beat Oud-Heverlee Leuven 5-3, before losing to Arsenal and then beating Liverpool 3-1. Lyon then drew 1-1 with Sochaux before a 2-1 win over Monza.
As for Brest, they met with Rennes this time last week in a friendly and lost 3-1 to the high-flying Ligue 1 side. They also lost 3-0 to Osasuna, but they did end their Ligue 1 run before the World Cup break with a 2-1 win over Troyes to rocket them further away from the drop zone.
