Bottom-placed Brest will meet with eight-placed Clermont Foot this Sunday in Ligue 1 as the last-placed side aim to get just their second win of the season as Clermont look to keep on building on what has been a sensational start to the season for them.
Compared to the long and tiresome relegation battle of last campaign, Clermont are coming into this fixture against 20th-placed Brest having already won five games in Ligue 1 and scored 15 goals – they won just nine games across the entire season last time out.
The club have lost four games already as well this season, but having defeated Bordeaux during the international break in a friendly, Ajaccio and Auxerre back in Ligue 1, before a recent 1-1 draw with Monaco, they have now gone on a four-game winning run. In fact, Clermont are just six points behind fourth-placed Marseille and only four adrift of Rennes in the final European spot of fifth.
Brest, however, are in complete dissaray right now with them three points adrift of getting out of the relegation zone and on just one win from 11 games. They’ve let in the most goals this season with 25 and scored only 11 of their own. What’s more, the club’s sole victory came back on the third game of the campaign in a 3-1 win over Angers.
