Or 8/13 to score at any time during Saturday’s game.

Match preview

The Lancers welcome Paris Saint-Germain to the Gabriel Montpied Stadium in Clermont-Ferrand on Saturday for this Ligue 1 match.

Clermont Foot finished last Ligue 1 season in 17th place, four points ahead of 18th placed Saint-Étienne in the relegation play-offs zone. Les Lanciers finished the last campaign on a run of two defeats in a row. This includes their last league match at home to Lyon, the final score of which was 1-2.

Mateusz Wieteska is the most expensive of their arrivals this summer. The 25-year-old centre-back arrives from Legia Warszawa for £1.17m. Komnen Andric, Yanis Massolin, Maxime Gonalons, Souleymane Cissé, Neto Borges, Mory Diaw and Mehdi Zeffane also arrive.

Jason Berthomier is the only doubt due to an injury for this match. The Clermont Foot midfielder made 29 appearances last season.

Reigning Ligue 1 Champions, PSG, finished the season 15 points ahead of runners-up Marseille. They come into this match having already won the Trophée des Champions – France’s answer to a national Super Cup – having beaten Nantes 4-0 last weekend. It was an impressive first performance under new head coach Christophe Galtier.

Les Parisiens finished last season on a run of nine league games undefeated and kept a clean sheet in each of their last two league matches. Paris Saint-Germain won their last league match of the 2021/22 seasons at home to FC Metz, the final score of which was 5-0.

Vitinha is the most expensive signing for them this summer. The 22-year-old central midfielder arrives from FC Porto for £37.35m. Nuno Mendes, a 20-year-old left-back, also made his loan contract from Sporting CP last season a permanent one for £34.20m. While Nordi Mukiele, a 24 year old right-back, also arrives from RB Leipzig for £10.80m. They also added Hugo Ekitiké to their squad. The 20-year-old centre-forward arriving from Stade Reims on loan for this season.

There have also been departures too, most notably Ángel Di María. The 34-year-old right winger has joined Juventus FC on a free transfer. Xavi Simons, a 19-year-old attacking midfielder, also leaves the club to join PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer. While goalkeepers Alphonse Areola and Marcin Bulka also leave the club to join West Ham and OGC Nice respectively.

The big news over the summer though was a transfer that didn’t happen. Despite the expectation that Kylian Mbappe-Lottin would leave the club for Real Madrid, he U-turned to sign a new three-year deal with PSG.

Neymar (hip), Timothee Pembele (knee), Marco Verratti (ankle) and Julian Draxler (knee) are all doubts for Paris Saint-Germain’s first league match of the 2022/23 season.
