Auxerre and Lens will look to get back to winning ways after poor results in midweek saw the latter lose and Lens move further away from the league leaders in Ligue 1 as the two battle at the Stade Abbe Deschamps on Saturday.
Lens fought back from behind twice in their 2-2 draw with Strasbourg, as all four goals came in the first 33 minutes. Alexis Claude Maurice equalised at first before another goal from Lois Openda.
Lens are now on 12 wins and five draws in the league, while they sit with just one loss still. Their two goals let in during midweek mean they are now level on goals conceded with Paris Saint-Germain – the two are the joint-best defensive sides in Ligue 1 right now.
Lens do sit six behind PSG now, but with Auxerre now in 18th after a 5-0 loss to Toulouse, they have a two-point gap to make up on Ajaccio in 17th to get out of the relegation zone.
Auxerre were smashed at home, despite having 18 shots of their own against Toulouse. It now also means the club have let in the most games in Ligue 1 with 40.
