Lille and Brest will kick off this weekend’s Ligue 1 action with a battle at the Decathlon Arena that sees the home side looking to move on from their tough loss against Paris Saint-Germain last weekend.
Paulo Fonseca’s men were excellent throughout the game in the French capital and were unlucky not to collect at least a point. Indeed, Lille did go 2-0 down after 20 minutes, but a fantastic comeback soon after saw them lead 3-2.
Kylian Mbappe would score three minutes from time, before Lionel Messi netted a free kick with all but the last kick of the game. It now leaves Lille in sixth and adrift of Rennes in fifth by just two points.
This was the first time Lille had lost in 90 minutes since a defeat to Nice at the end of January, although they were knocked out of the French Cup round of 16 just two weeks ago.
As for Brest, they are hovering just above the drop zone and sit only only point above Troyes ahead of their trip to Lille.
The club lost last time out as Monaco eased to a 2-1 win, which now means four games have passed since the club’s excellent 4-0 win over Angers.
