Match preview

Both Lille and Troyes dropped points again in the midweek Ligue 1 games with the latter heading into this game now in seventh place and still adrift of their desired European spots just as Troyes remain in 13th in the league.

Lille drew 0-0 with Brest despite having 72% of the ball in midweek. At the same time, they didn’t concede a shot on target and come into this one off the back of four shots on target of their own in the last game.

The 2020/21 champions are now on two draws in 2023, having also drawn with Reims in Ligue 1. They did manage to beat Clermont Foot 2-0, however, thanks to goals from Mohamed Bayo and Angel Gomes.

These two actually met in the French Cup round of 64 not too long ago, with Jonathan David getting back on the scoresheet alongside Mohamed Bayo. Lille made easy work of Troyes that day, seeing 72% of the ball once again.

Troyes also lost to Marseille in midweek, as Patrick Kisnorbo’s men have now won just one game since action resumed after the World Cup in France. His side defeated Strasbourg 3-2 away from home.
