Match preview

Lyon will look to rocket themselves further up the Ligue 1 table this weekend with the visit of Lille to the Groupama Stadium as the away side sits two places above Lyon in the table following on from recent wins each.

Lyon only edged past Monpellier in the last game, scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute through Alexandre Lacazette. Sinaly Diomande was sent off in that game, however, and he will now miss this game here. Lyon are still sitting in eighth right now and four points behind Monaco who sit just above them in the table. The club did also lose to Rennes just two weeks ago, meaning they have now let in 16 goals in the league and 21 goals scored.

What’s more, with further losses to Lens, Monaco, Lorient and PSG, while also drawing with Toulouse 1-1, they are coming into this one with just the one victory in the past seven games after beating Angers 5-0 back at the start of September.

Lille have won their past three games, however, and are one of the most in-form sides in the division, given who they have beaten. The club defeated Lens 1-0 in what was just their first defeat of the Ligue 1 season, and this came before a 3-0 against Strasbourg and a 4-3 win over Monaco. The club are now sitting sixth in the league table with seven wins on the board and 25 goals scored.
