Montpellier will be desperate to return to the win column this weekend when they play hosts to Strasbourg at the Stade de la Mosson on Saturday with the home side now sitting 10th after another loss.
Although it hasn’t been the worst season for Montpellier, they are heading into this one with the feeling that it is a must-win, but this mainly comes off the fact Strasbourg are yet to win in Ligue 1. The away side are one of two sides in the French top flight yet to get all three points in a game, with the club now drawing the most games in the league (5).
Strasbourg are, technically speaking, on an unbeaten run of three games now, and if it wasn’t for the loss against Auxerre at the end of August, they would be unbeaten since the start of the season where they lost 2-1 to Monaco. Strasbourg are also heading into this one with a disciplinary problem to work around. Sanjin Prcic was sent off against Brest, just prior to Maxime Le Marchand getting a red card in the 0-0 draw with Clermont Foot.
Montpellier are in 10th right now after losing back-to-back games against Angers and Lille. This has also seen Olivier Dall’Oglio’s men concede five times in the league with just two goals scored of their own. The club now sit with three wins and four defeats in the season and without a draw on record. At the same time, they’ve also been involved in the most goals so far this campaign, with a stunning 17 scored from seven games and 14 let in too.
