Lorient have dropped further down the table after another period of dropped points in Ligue 1 with Regis Le Bris’ men heading on the road to the Beaujoire Stadium where Nantes are on a two-game winning run.
It’s been a tough return for Lorient since the World Cup break ended. They did manage to get a fantastic 2-1 win over Rennes not too long ago, but in losing to Reims 4-2 and drawing with last-placed Angers, they are now in eighth.
Le Bris’ men then lost to Lens on penalties in the French Cup round of 16 on Thursday to now make it three games in a row without a win. Lorient now sit behind Rennes in fifth by four points.
Nantes are heading into this one off the back of also drawing with Angers. However, their 1-1 draw that day was rectified on penalties and Nantes now have to deal with Europa League, French Cup and Ligue 1 games within the next few weeks.
Last time out in the league, Antoine Kombouaré’s men defeated Ajaccio 2-0 to move them up into 13th and a healthy distance from the drop zone.
