Brest have a chance to get out of the relegation zone before the World Cup as they head to the Allianz Riveira this weekend to meet with 10th-placed Nice in Ligue 1 off the back of two games without a defeat.
Brest have now managed to climb off the foot of the table in the French top flight after this run of form. The club defeated Clermont Foot 3-1 two weeks back, as Romain Del Castillo scored from the spot, before Franck Honorat and Jeremy Le Douaron scored a goal each too. In fact, they only conceded because of a goal one minute before the end of the game. The managerless Brest then went on to draw 0-0 with Reims over the past weekend.
Nice have struggled for consistency throughout much of the year, but they are now on a three-game unbeaten run in Ligue 1. This has seen them draw 1-1 with both Auxerre and Nantes, before a narrow 2-1 win over the high-flying Lorient which saw Youcef Atal and Gaetan Laborde score a goal each.
Nice have won just four games this season, however, and with only 13 goals scored across the 13 games in Ligue 1, it’s clear to see where the club’s problem are – only Ajaccio in 19th have scored fewer goals.
