Match preview

Two sides right by one another will meet this weekend in Ligue 1 as 13th-placed Nice clash with 14th-placed Nantes at the Allianz Riviera with both sides eager to jump into the top half of the table ahead of the World Cup break in a few weeks time.

It’s been a rollacoaster of a season for Nice, as they started the season brightly with just one loss in the first five outings. Defeats to Angers, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and a recent draw to Auxerre have meant just two wins since the end of August, as they managed to defeat Ajaccio and Troyes.

What has summed up quite well the season of Nice has been the back and forth with Slovacko in the Europa Conference League. They managed to defeat the club away from home 1-0, before a 2-1 loss on home soil.

As for Nantes, they lost 2-0 and 4-0 in their recent Europa League encounters, and combined with a 3-0 defeat to Rennes, it means just one win in October and 10 goals conceded across the month. They are sitting 14th in the league too, but Antoine Kombouaré did manage to lead the club to a 4-1 victory over Brest recently.

They’ve managed to also let in 19 goals across the season, but with five losses for them and five for Nice too, this game could go either way.
