Match preview

Rennes are looking for their first win in three games after a tough run of form sees them drop into sixth in Ligue 1 and with lots of work to do in the Europa League as Clermont Foot head to Roazhon Park.

Rennes’s last win came when they eased past Strasbourg in the league, as Amine Gouiri scored a first half brace just before Desire Doue netted the third.

Shakhtar Donetsk beat them in the Europa League in midweek, but Karl Toko Ekambi’s second half goal does give them hope when the Ukrainian side head to France next week. Elsewhere in February, Rennes have lost to Lille and Toulouse both by 3-1 scorelines.

Clermont Foot’s form has dropped off in recent weeks, as they have lost 2-0 to Monaco and Marseille at home in the past two weeks. Prior to this, the Lancers drew 0-0 with Nantes and Lille too.

Clermont are currently in 12th after this poor run of form, although they are just three adrift of the top 10 but still 10 behind Rennes in sixth.
