Rennes are hanging onto fifth after a return to the win column last time out against Strasbourg with Bruno Genesio’s men welcoming Lille to Roazhon Park in a huge game for either side this weekend.
Rennes are five points above the sixth-placed Lille heading into this match and they will stay in a European spot regardless of the outcome in this game. A win, however, could put them ahead of Monaco depending on their result.
Amine Gouiri was the hero for his side against Strasbourg, as he bagged a brace inside the first 21 minutes of the 90. Desire Doue added a third in the second half to secure a comfortable 3-0 win.
As for Lille, they drew 0-0 with Clermont Foot last time out to take them onto a two-game winless run within the past week after narrowly losing to Nice away from home as well.
They did, however, go on a promising run before this, beating Clermont in the reverse fixture while also defeating Troyes 5-1 and drawing with Brest and Reims. A win here is a must, however, if they want to get back amongst the European spots over time.
